Lawyer Wanted at PTS

Do you want to work with law that makes a real difference for society, focusing on technology, security, and international cooperation? We are now looking for lawyers who want to drive and develop PTS's work in areas such as data retention for law enforcement purposes, secret coercive measures, and cross-border electronic evidence transfer. With us, you will work on complex and socially important issues at the intersection of law, technology, and EU law.

We work with what everyone takes for granted. The ability to communicate. With us, you will ensure that it works now and in the future. For everyone.

The position is located in the unit for trusted services and data retention. The unit works with highly relevant and growing responsibilities where PTS plays a central role in developing regulations, conducting oversight, and collaborating with other authorities, stakeholders, and EU bodies. The work takes place in a development-intensive environment where both technology and law change rapidly, and where international cooperation is a natural part of everyday life.

“My name is Johanna Eklund, and I will be your manager. It is important for me to create conditions for a workplace where employees thrive, are seen, and can develop. I value unpretentious collaboration, team spirit, and community so that we can work together towards our goals and feel motivation and joy at work.”

About the Role

As a lawyer with us, you will drive issues within the department's areas of responsibility, with a particular focus on legal areas concerning data retention for law enforcement purposes, secret coercive measures, as well as the e-evidence directive and cross-border transfer of electronic evidence. You will work on applying and developing regulations through oversight, rule-making, and investigative work, as well as handling government assignments and consultations. The role involves extensive collaboration, both nationally and internationally, and you will represent PTS in EU legal working groups and other collaborative forums. You will work in a changing environment where parts of the regulation are under development, which requires good judgment, a holistic view, and the ability to balance national and international interests.

About the Team

The unit consists of about 14 engaged employees with various competencies. We work closely together on our issues and are characterized by open and unpretentious collaboration where we share knowledge and support each other in our daily work.

About You

To succeed in this role, you are collaborative and enjoy working with others on complex issues where conditions may change. You are analytical, have the ability to see the big picture, and can make well-balanced assessments even when the conditions are not entirely clear. You are solution-oriented, stable, and remain focused on the assignment and the whole.

Your personal qualities are important to us, and we will place great emphasis on these.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Law degree
  • Several years of relevant experience in qualified legal work
  • Relevant experience in qualified work with EU legal issues, e.g., in the area of free movement of services and digital services, with legislative processes within the EU or implementation of EU law in national legislation
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Experience working with IT-related law, cybersecurity, data protection issues, or information security
  • Relevant experience collaborating with other authorities or EU bodies
  • Current work experience in oversight, investigative, or regulatory work
  • Notary qualification

Our Offer

We take life seriously. With us, you can have a life both at and outside of work. If you are well, we are well. Therefore, we offer competitive salaries, flexible working hours, and the possibility of remote work. We also have generous wellness benefits and two wellness hours every week.

Additionally, you will receive favorable terms for lunch, vacation, parental leave, pension, and in case of illness. Here, you will work in modern activity-based premises at Hälsingegatan 38. As a government agency, we offer a safe and stable work environment where you can feel secure. We are creating tomorrow's society and must stay at the forefront. With us, you will continuously grow with your tasks.

Good to Know

The position is a permanent employment with an initial probationary period of six months. Placement in Stockholm with a start as soon as possible by agreement. Your job title will be lawyer.

To ensure a fair and objective assessment of your competence, we ask you not to include a photo, personal identification number, or address in your CV. We have chosen not to request a cover letter as we instead use selection questions. This is to focus on your experience and competence, contributing to a more efficient and fair recruitment process. Tests will be included in the process. If you have protected information, please contact our HR specialist.

For further information, please contact unit manager Johanna Eklund at [email protected] or HR specialist Isabelle Flygelholm at [email protected]. For questions related to our local trade union organizations, please email [email protected] or [email protected].
